(Junior) Data specialist 36-40 hours per week

Job description

As data specialist for BouwKennis/BuildinfoConsult you will contribute to our international ambitions. You are responsible for the (data)sources of our products and will focus on turning raw data into structured data for your colleagues. Together you build a range of products that contain a variety of insights, that commercial policymakers in companies within the European building industry can rely on.

Your role as data specialist:

  • You collect data from different sources, and you convert and model this data into our database
  • You design and build connections from external sources to our data warehouse
  • You take care of bulk uploads (data from our own surveys)
  • You will be working alongside different teams within the business to establish business needs
  • You will execute data governance (definitions, quality, continuity, etc.)

A typical day at the (home) office:

There are always a lot of things that have be done, and even more that can be done. In the morning you will meet up with your colleagues to prioritize. Of course there will be space for some chit chat, coffee and for discussing your individual projects in dept. You’ll probably plan some meetings for later that day, or later that week, to discuss the details of the requirements and possibilities of the dataflow solutions that you’re going to create.

In the afternoon you receive a notification saying the latest survey data is available. You will check the quality of the data and, if needed, you’ll ask our supplier for some contextual explanation. Now it’s time to prepare the dataset and transform it in such a way it can be loaded into the right tables in the database. Therefore you will develop a workaround that can be easily repeated the next time the survey data is updated.

At the end of the day you inform your colleagues that the new dataset is ready to use. Meanwhile, you discuss your plans for the evening.
